VPE was recently contracted by GE to design and manufacture a 14 MW fuel gas performance printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE).  This heat exchanger will be a part of GE’s advanced 7HA.02 gas turbine technology, which will provide approximately 500 megawatts to the South Korea national grid, as well as steam for district heating for over 100,000 citizens of Naepo City.

HA gas turbine technology is capable of reaching 64% efficiency in the combined cycle, and more than 91% efficiency in district heating mode.  This process, by capturing and reusing waste heat or steam that would otherwise go unutilized, will generate more energy per unit of fuel with lower carbon emissions.

VPE’s printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHE) aka diffusion bonded microchannel heat exchangers (MCHE) are capable of high pressures and temperatures that are required for the HA gas turbine technology.  VPE is pleased to announce that this is its largest heat exchanger manufactured to date.
