Ben Irani joined the VPE team in 2014 as our Technical Sales Manager and expert in metallurgy. He was promoted to VP of Operations in 2018. He has over 38 years of experience in the Aerospace industry working as a VP of metallurgy and quality, an Aerospace structures specialist, a VP of technical support and marketing, as well as a General Manager of Southern California Aluminum Heat Treating.
For over 25 years, Ben has been involved with the space shuttle program, training more than 8000 students, associates, engineers, and customers in the field of metallurgy, materials science, welding, selection of materials, failure analysis, and corrosion. He authored and co-authored a number of publications and technical papers on high-temperature carburization, stress corrosion, failure investigation, and heat treatment of metallic alloys.
He is a former member of the board of directors of MHTA (Metal Heat Treating Association of Southern California) and active member of AMEC (Aerospace Metals Engineering Committee), ASM (American Society for Metal) and ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).
